What we are building

What is finished, what is being worked on, and what we would like to do but have not started. No dates on the last one, because a date we invent is a promise we break.

Where this is going

Giving should be free, simple, and possible from anywhere, and arrive anywhere too, including the places where there is no way to receive a donation at all today. Somebody with a phone and a reason should be able to ask, and somebody who wants to help should be able to, whatever country either of them is standing in.

Everything below is a step towards that. The short lists are the honest part: it is a long way off, and we would rather say where we have actually got to.

Done

Live on the site now.
  • Start a fund in two minutes, and share one link
  • Card and bank payments, with the money paid out the next working day
  • Monthly giving, which a donor can stop themselves at any time
  • Raising for somebody else, paid into their own account
  • Funds for verified charities
  • Updates, thank-yous, and a line for everything the money paid for
  • A printable poster with a code people can scan

Next

Being worked on.
  • Kenya and Ivory Coast are the next two countries. Kenya is already described in the code, and goes live the day payouts do
  • Mobile money at the checkout, not only cards
  • More countries across West and East Africa, once those two are live
  • A mobile app
  • A help centre, so the common questions have somewhere to live
  • Reporting a fund from the fund itself, in one press
  • Measuring which pages people give up on, so we can fix them
